Hi, I’m Carly
COACH CARLY ACADEMY🦮
Hi, I’m Carly
Meet Your Trainer
I’m the founder of Coach Carly Dog Training Academy, where kind, practical and science-led training helps dogs and their people understand one another more clearly.
My aim is not simply to teach commands. I help owners build calm communication, stronger relationships and useful skills that work in everyday life.
From Dog Owner to Professional Trainer
My journey into dog training began with my own rescue dogs, Teddy and Moose, whilst living in the Middle East for 10 years.
Both arrived with very little experience of ordinary home life. They had not learned how to walk confidently on a lead, cope with unfamiliar situations or feel safe in the world around them. Supporting them showed me how much behaviour is shaped by emotion, previous experience, environment and trust.
Their progress inspired me to study dog training and behaviour more deeply. What began as a personal commitment developed into professional training, practical experience and the creation of Coach Carly Dog Training Academy.
I understand how overwhelming it can feel when a dog is frightened, excitable, reactive, unsettled or simply struggling to understand what is expected. My role is to remove the confusion and give owners clear, manageable steps they can use with confidence.

Kind Training. Clear Guidance. Practical Progress.
Kind and Reward-Based
I use ethical, reward-based methods that support learning without fear, intimidation or unnecessary pressure.

Science-Led
Training plans are informed by modern learning theory, canine body language and an understanding of the emotions behind behaviour.

Personalised
Every dog, household and training goal is different. Sessions are adapted to the individual rather than forcing every dog through the same programme.

Real-Life Focused
I practise skills that make daily life easier, including calmness, focus, recall, lead walking, settling and confidence around distractions.

Professional Training and Continued Learning
I have completed extensive study in dog training and behaviour through the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers, alongside practical workshops, specialist webinars and continued professional development.
My studies and practical training include:
• Level 3 Accreditation Learning, Motivation & Reinforcement
• IMDT Career as a Dog Trainer Course
• IMDT Practical Instructor Course
• Canine body language and communication
• Learning theory and reward-based training
• Puppy development and early training

Meet the Dogs Behind Coach Carly
Moose
Moose
Moose is a small Chihuahua with a gentle personality and a big influence on my training journey.
His early uncertainty taught me the importance of patience, careful observation and allowing dogs to learn at a pace that feels safe.
Teddy
Teddy
Teddy is a Maltese, Shih Tzu and Terrier mix with a sensitive and expressive personality.
Supporting him through anxiety and complex behaviour strengthened my interest in the emotions behind behaviour and the importance of thoughtful, individual training plans.
Teddy and Moose are a constant reminder that progress is not always linear, and that small, compassionate changes can transform a dog’s confidence and quality of life.
What You Can Expect From Me
When we work together, you can expect calm support, honest guidance and a training plan that feels achievable.
I will explain not only what to do, but why it works. You will learn how to recognise your dog’s communication, reward the behaviours you want and adapt training when something is not going to plan.
There is no judgement and no expectation of perfection. The goal is steady, meaningful progress for both ends of the lead.

Helping Dogs and People Learn Together
Coach Carly Dog Training Academy was created to provide welcoming, professional support for owners who want to understand their dogs, not simply control them.
Whether you are preparing for life with a new puppy, improving everyday manners or seeking support with a more complex concern, I will help you move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
